About Fourtet

Formed in 2021, Fourtet is a Jazz Quartet of young rising stars who currently study at Capilano University. They perform a diverse selection of jazz standards, along with original compositions by the band members. This ensemble features Harmeet Kaur Virdee (bass), Justin Juan (piano), Ruthie Ha (tenor saxophone), and Karl DeJong (drums). Collectively they bring an exciting and positive energy to their music.

Harmeet K Virdee

Double bassist and educator in Vancouver BC. She is a student at Capilano University, and a Performance Prep student at the VSO School of Music. Harmeet is currently studying with established jazz musicians including Jodi Proznick, and Miles Black.

Justin Juan

Keyboardist based in Vancouver BC.

Currently attending Capilano University’s Jazz program. Justin is a a well-respected musician within his community. He is influenced by the works of Red Garland, Oscar Peterson, and Robert Glasper.

Ruthie (Ru) Ha

Tenor saxophonist in Vancouver BC who is currently studying in Capilano University’s Jazz program. Ruthie is inspired by saxophone players such as Dexter Gordon and Hank Mobley.

Karl DeJong

he/him

Langley-based jazz drummer, composer and producer, currently attending Capilano University Jazz program. His passion for music took off in 2012 when he took his first drum lesson, and he has since graduated from Langley Fine Arts School and has played all across BC.
